Choosing a new laptop or computer can feel like wading through jargon. This page is a plain guide to what matters, and to what we can do for you locally: you can browse the range online, collect it from us near Kingsbridge and, if you want, have it set up so it is ready to use.

What to look for

For home use

Email, video calls, photos and the web do not need a powerful machine. Aim for 8GB to 16GB of memory and a solid-state drive (SSD), which makes a computer feel quick for years, and choose a screen size you will be happy to look at.

For school and study

Weight and battery life matter more than raw speed. A 14 inch laptop with a comfortable keyboard is easy to carry, and a sturdy build helps it survive a school bag.

For business

Look for Windows 11 Pro, 16GB of memory, an SSD and a model that is easy to repair or upgrade later. If you are buying several machines, choosing the same model keeps support simple. Our IT support team can look after them once they are in use.

New or refurbished?

A new machine gives you a full warranty and the latest parts. A refurbished one can be a sensible way to spend less if it has been properly tested and wiped. We explain how we choose and check them on our refurbished laptops page, and we will tell you plainly which we think suits what you need.

Collection and delivery

Collect free from our Kingsbridge base at Springfield Farm Shop, East Charleton, Kingsbridge, Devon, TQ7 2AR, during Mon–Sat 09:00–17:00 or Sun 10:00–16:00. Collection is arranged once your order is ready, and we will tell you when. If you are further away, orders go anywhere in the UK by Royal Mail Special Delivery for £25.00 per order including VAT. Set-up and data transfer

A new computer is only useful once it has your files, email and printer on it. We can do that for you, so you pick up a machine that is ready to use. Frequently asked questions

Can I collect my laptop or computer from you?+

Yes. Collection is free from Springfield Farm Shop, East Charleton, Kingsbridge, TQ7 2AR, during our opening hours (Mon–Sat 09:00–17:00; Sun 10:00–16:00). Collection is arranged once your order is ready, and we will tell you when.

Can you deliver it instead?+

We send orders anywhere in the UK by Royal Mail Special Delivery for £25.00 per order including VAT. Some orders are dispatched directly from our supplier's warehouse, so please see our delivery page for the details.

Can you set the new computer up and move my files across?+

Yes, if you would like us to. We can set up your accounts, email, printer and security and move your files and photos from the old machine. See our new computer setup page for how it works.

Do you sell refurbished laptops?+

We can supply tested refurbished laptops for people who would rather spend less. They are not listed in the shop, so ask us about what is available and what we would recommend.

Do you sell Macs?+
