Samsung makes more Android tablets than anyone, from the inexpensive Galaxy Tab A range to the Galaxy Tab S models that compete with the iPad Pro. They are built quite differently, and that changes what a repair involves and whether it is worth it.

Common faults by range

Galaxy Tab A (A7, A7 Lite, A8, A9, A9+, A11 and newer)

Family and children's tablets. Cracked screens from drops are the most common job, followed by worn USB-C ports and batteries that no longer last. Screens are affordable on most models, but on the oldest ones a repair can approach the cost of a newer tablet, and we tell you.

Galaxy Tab S FE and Tab S6 Lite

Mid-range tablets popular with students and note-takers. Screen damage, S Pen problems and charging faults are common. The S Pen on these models does not need charging, so if it stops working it is usually the pen tip, the pen itself or the screen's pen layer.

Galaxy Tab S (S7, S8, S9, S10 and their Plus and Ultra versions)

Premium tablets, many with AMOLED screens. Screens cost more, but so do the tablets, so repair is usually worthwhile. On several models the S Pen charges magnetically on the back, and a pen that will not connect may need resetting rather than replacing. Swollen batteries on older Tab S models can lift the screen.

Samsung tablet repairs we carry out

  • Screen replacement, including AMOLED screens on Galaxy Tab S models.
  • Battery replacement, including swollen batteries.
  • USB-C charging port cleaning and replacement.
  • S Pen connection, charging and screen pen-layer faults.
  • Cameras, speakers, microphones and buttons.
  • Software faults: boot loops, apps crashing, storage full, and updates that fail.
  • Moving everything to a new tablet with Samsung Smart Switch.

Talk to the team

Tell us the model and what it is doing. We will say honestly what is likely to be involved and the quickest safe way to help.

Before you book: Samsung's cover and updates

If your tablet is under Samsung's warranty or a Samsung Care+ plan and the fault is covered, that may be the better route, and we will tell you. Opening the tablet ourselves could affect that cover.

It is also worth checking how long your model will keep getting updates. Samsung supports Tab S models for longer than most Tab A models. If an older Tab A has stopped getting security updates, a big repair may not be worth it.

Locked tablets and Samsung accounts

After a reset, a Samsung tablet may ask for the Google Account and, on some models, the Samsung account that was used before. If it is yours, we can help you recover the account. We cannot bypass the lock, and for a second-hand tablet the seller has to remove it. Samsung Find, if switched on, can also help locate a lost tablet.

The visit and turnaround

Bring the tablet, and the S Pen and charger if the fault involves them. We diagnose it, explain the options and agree the outcome and the price before work starts. Screens and batteries for popular Galaxy Tab models usually arrive within a few working days. Glued screens need careful work, so we take the time to do it properly.

Samsung Galaxy Tab repair: your questions

Can you repair a cracked Galaxy Tab screen?+

Yes. The glass and display are bonded, so we replace the screen assembly. We tell you the options for your model before work starts.

My S Pen has stopped working. Is it the pen or the tablet?+

Try a new pen tip and, on models with a charging pen, reattach it to charge and reconnect it in Settings. If it still fails, we test it with another pen to find out.

My Galaxy Tab will not charge. What can I try?+

Try a different USB-C cable and charger, and gently check the port for fluff. If it still will not charge, bring it in and we will test the port, battery and board.

Can you move my things to a new Samsung tablet?+

Yes. Samsung Smart Switch moves apps, photos, messages and settings. We can do it with you and check everything came across.

Is it worth repairing an old Galaxy Tab A?+

If it still gets updates and the repair is a battery or port, often yes. If it needs a screen and no longer gets updates, a newer tablet is often better value.
