Tablets live hard lives. They are passed round the family, propped up in kitchens, used as tills and booking screens in shops and cafés, and taken to the beach. Most problems we see are the same across brands: cracked screens, worn charging ports, tired or swollen batteries, and tablets that will not start or have locked their owner out.
Tablets range from very inexpensive to as costly as a laptop, so we always start with the honest question: is the repair worth it for this model? We check, explain the options and tell you plainly if a replacement makes more sense.

Android tablet faults we repair
Cracked and unresponsive screens
On most current tablets the glass, the touch layer and the display are bonded together, so a crack usually means replacing the whole screen assembly. A screen that shows a picture but ignores touches, or has lines or dark patches, usually needs the same.
Charging ports
Tablets that only charge at an angle, or not at all. Often the port is full of fluff, which we clean first. If the port is worn or damaged, it is replaced; on many tablets it sits on a small board that can be swapped.
Batteries, including swollen ones
Batteries that drain quickly or shut down at 30 per cent. If the screen is lifting away from the frame, the battery may be swelling: stop charging it and bring it in, because a swollen battery can be a fire risk.
Will not turn on, or stuck on the logo
First, charge it for at least half an hour with a charger and cable you know work, then hold the power and volume-down buttons for 15 seconds or so. If it still will not start, or keeps restarting on the logo, we can diagnose whether it is the battery, the charging circuit or the software.
Liquid damage
Turn it off, do not charge it, and do not put it in rice. Bring it in as soon as you can so we can open, clean and dry it properly.
Cameras, speakers and buttons
Rear and front cameras, crackly speakers, and power or volume buttons that have stopped clicking.
Google Account lock after a reset
Android tablets have Factory Reset Protection. After a reset, the tablet asks for the Google Account that was last used on it. That stops a thief from using a stolen tablet, but it also catches out people who reset a tablet and have forgotten the password, or bought one second-hand.
We cannot and will not bypass it. We can help you recover your own Google Account, and if you bought the tablet second-hand, the seller needs to remove it from their account. If you are selling or passing on a tablet, remove your Google Account from it before you reset it.

How a tablet repair works with us
1. Tell us the make, the model and what happened
Call 01548 600127 or send a message. The model is in Settings, About tablet, or printed in small letters on the back. A photo of the damage helps.
2. Diagnosis and an honest answer
We check the tablet, explain what we found and whether it is worth repairing, and agree the outcome and the price with you before any work starts.
3. Repair, test and hand back
We fit the part and test touch across the whole screen, charging, cameras, speakers, WiFi and buttons before you collect it.
Your photos and data
Most screen, battery and port repairs do not touch your data. Before any repair, it is worth checking your photos are backed up to Google Photos, Samsung Cloud, OneDrive or Amazon Photos. We never need your Google or Amazon password; if a test needs the tablet unlocked, we do it with you, or you can set a temporary PIN and change it afterwards.
Turnaround
Port cleaning and many software problems can be sorted quickly. Screens and batteries are specific to each model and usually need ordering in; popular Samsung and Lenovo parts tend to arrive within a few working days, less common brands can take longer. We tell you the expected wait before you agree.

Android tablet repair: your questions
Which Android tablets do you repair?+
Samsung Galaxy Tab, Lenovo Tab, Amazon Fire, Xiaomi and Redmi Pad, Huawei MatePad, Honor, Nokia, TCL and Alcatel tablets. Parts are easier to find for some brands than others, and we tell you up front.
Is it worth repairing a cheap tablet?+
Sometimes not. If a new screen would cost close to a new tablet, we say so and help you choose a replacement and move your things across.
Can you replace just the glass?+
On most current tablets the glass and display are bonded together, so the whole screen assembly is replaced. That gives a better, longer-lasting result.
My tablet is asking for a Google Account after a reset. Can you remove it?+
No. That is Factory Reset Protection, and it exists to stop stolen tablets being reused. We can help you recover your own account; for a second-hand tablet, the seller must remove it.
Do you repair iPads too?+
Yes. See our iPad repair page for iPad, iPad Air, iPad mini and iPad Pro.
