Surface devices are lovely to carry and tricky to repair. On many models the screen is glued to the frame and the battery sits behind it, so an everyday job like a new battery means carefully removing the display first. Newer models are much better: Microsoft has made screens, batteries and SSDs easier to replace on recent Surface Pro and Surface Laptop models.
We check exactly which Surface you have, tell you what the repair involves and whether it is worth doing, and protect your files throughout.
Common Surface faults by model
Surface Pro
Cracked screens, ghost touches and flickering on older models, swollen batteries lifting the screen away from the frame, and the Surface Connect charging port failing to charge. Recent Surface Pro models have a removable SSD under a small door on the back, which makes storage upgrades and data recovery far simpler.
Surface Laptop
Batteries that no longer last the day, keyboards and trackpads, and screens. Older Surface Laptops are hard to open without damaging the fabric or aluminium top; newer ones open from the base, which makes many repairs more practical.
Surface Go
Cracked screens are the most common job, often from a drop in a school bag. Small storage fills up quickly with Windows updates, and slow performance is common on the earlier models.
Surface Book and Surface Studio
Surface Book models have their batteries split between the screen and the keyboard base, and the detach mechanism can fail. We can look at the Surface Studio all-in-one too, though parts are limited.

Talk to the team
Tell us the model and what it is doing. We will say honestly what is likely to be involved and the quickest safe way to help.
Before you book: check Microsoft's cover
If your Surface is under Microsoft's warranty or a Microsoft Complete plan and the fault is covered, that route may cost you less, and we will tell you so. Opening the device ourselves could affect that cover. For older Surfaces, or damage that is not covered, we will explain your options.
Your data on a Surface
Most Surfaces encrypt their storage with BitLocker. A screen or board repair can trigger a recovery screen that asks for a 48-digit key. If you sign in with a Microsoft account, the key is usually saved there. We help you find it before work starts, and back up your files where practical.
Turnaround and the visit
Bring the Surface, its charger and, if the fault involves typing, the Type Cover. We diagnose it, explain what we found and agree the outcome and the price before we start. Surface screens and batteries usually have to be ordered for the exact model, and we tell you the expected wait up front. Glued screens take careful work, so we do not rush them.

Microsoft Surface repair: your questions
Can a Surface Pro screen be replaced?+
Yes. On older models the screen is glued down and needs careful removal; on newer ones it is easier. We check your model and explain the work before you decide.
My Surface will not charge. Is it the charger?+
Sometimes. Dirty or damaged Surface Connect pins, a failing charger and board faults all look the same. We test each one so you only pay to fix the real fault.
My Type Cover has stopped working. Can you fix it?+
Often it is the contacts or a Windows driver rather than the cover itself. We check both. If the cover has failed, we can advise on a replacement.
Can you upgrade the storage on my Surface?+
On models with a removable SSD, yes. On older models storage is soldered to the board and cannot be upgraded, but we can help free up space.
Is a Surface repair worth it?+
On a recent model it usually is. On an older Surface Go or early Surface Pro, a new screen can cost close to a replacement, and we say so plainly.
