iPhone repair in Kingsbridge

Cracked screens, batteries that no longer last the day, charging ports, cameras and water damage, sorted by a local team who explain what each repair means on your model.

Springfield Farm Shop, East Charleton, Kingsbridge · Open Mon–Sat 09:00–17:00 · Sun 10:00–16:00

Your iPhone is your bank, your camera, your boarding pass and, for a lot of South Hams businesses, the till and the booking system too. When it breaks, you want it back working, with everything still on it, and you want to know what you are getting.

Modern iPhones check their own parts. A screen, battery or camera that is not matched to the phone can show a message in Settings, and on some models a careless screen swap can stop Face ID or True Tone working. We tell you before we start which part we would use and what, if anything, your iPhone will say about it afterwards.

Common iPhone faults, by model

iPhone 15 and later

USB-C charging, a battery cycle count you can read in Settings, General, About, and more repairable designs on several models. We mostly see cracked screens and rear glass, camera lenses chipped in pockets, and ports packed with sand after a day at Bantham.

iPhone 11 to iPhone 14

Lightning charging, ageing batteries showing 'Service' under Battery Health, cracked screens, and Face ID problems after a hard drop. Many of these phones are now handed down to children and parents, so batteries are the most common job.

iPhone SE, XR and older

Still in daily use, especially the Touch ID models. Batteries, screens and charging ports are the usual repairs. Some older models no longer get the latest iOS, so we will tell you how safely yours can still be used for banking and email.

iPhone repairs we carry out

Screens

Cracked glass, black or green lines, flicker, and touch that has stopped responding in places. We test Face ID or Touch ID, True Tone, the earpiece and the front camera before and after, so you know nothing else has been affected.

Batteries

Look in Settings, Battery, Battery Health. A maximum capacity well below 80%, a 'Service' message, or a phone that switches off in the cold on the Kingsbridge Quay are all signs. A swollen battery can lift the screen: stop using the phone and bring it in.

Charging ports

Most 'broken' ports are full of pocket fluff or sand. We clean and test before suggesting a replacement, and we test your cable and charger too.

Cameras, speakers and microphones

Cracked lens covers, blurry photos, people who cannot hear you on calls, and speakers that crackle after getting wet.

Water damage

iPhones are water resistant, not waterproof, and the seals weaken with age and after any repair. If yours has been in the sea or the bath, switch it off, do not charge it, do not put it in rice, and call 01548 600127.

Talk to the team

Tell us the model and what it is doing. We will say honestly what is likely to be involved and the quickest safe way to help.

Your data and privacy

Before you hand over your iPhone, check it has backed up recently: Settings, your name, iCloud, iCloud Backup. We will never ask for your Apple Account password. If we need the phone unlocked to test it, we do that with you, or you set a temporary passcode and change it when you collect.

We will not remove Activation Lock or bypass a passcode on a phone that is not yours. If you have bought a second-hand iPhone that is still locked to someone else, the seller needs to remove it from their account.

What the visit looks like and how long it takes

Call or message to check we can help with your model, then drop it at Springfield Farm Shop, East Charleton, by arrangement. We check it with you, agree the price of the outcome, and tell you how long it should take. Some repairs can be done the same day; when a part has to be ordered for your exact model, we tell you the expected wait before you agree.

If the problem is on the main board, we say so honestly. Some board faults can be repaired and some cannot, and if Apple's own service is the better route for your phone, we will tell you.

Beyond repairs

  • Moving everything to a new iPhone, including WhatsApp, photos and two-factor apps.
  • Sorting a full iCloud, and explaining what 'Optimise Storage' actually keeps on the phone.
  • Securing your Apple Account after a scam text or call, and turning on Stolen Device Protection.
  • Setting up iPhones for staff so the business keeps control of its own accounts and data.

iPhone repair: your questions

Will my iPhone say the screen or battery is not genuine?+

It might. iPhones list repaired parts in Settings, General, About. Before we start we tell you which part we would use and what message, if any, you are likely to see.

Will Face ID still work after a screen repair?+

It should, if the repair is done carefully, because Face ID sits separately from the screen on most models. We test it before and after, and tell you before starting if it was already faulty.

Do I need to turn off Find My before the repair?+

Not for most repairs with us. Keep your Apple Account password to yourself; we never need it.

My iPhone went in the sea. What should I do?+

Switch it off, do not charge it, do not put it in rice, and call 01548 600127 as soon as you can.

Can you get photos off an iPhone that will not turn on?+

Only if the phone can be brought back to life, or if the photos are already in iCloud. iPhone storage is encrypted and tied to the phone, so we focus on getting the phone working again safely.

Can you unlock a second-hand iPhone with someone else's Apple Account on it?+

No. Activation Lock can only be removed by the original owner or by Apple with proof of purchase.
